STAMPED CONCRETE PATIOS IN ATLANTA

Stamped Concrete is catching on in Atlanta.  Concrete is a durable material that holds up well in the southern temperate climate in Atlanta.  Stamped concrete is a recent leap forward in the old science of Concrete, made famous by the Romans over 2000 years ago.  Stamped concrete patios have the durability of concrete, and the beauty of stone masonry, and at half the cost of traditional masonry.

Benefits of Stamped Concrete Patios over traditional Masonry:

Stamped Concrete is half the cost of stone masonry (in many cases).
Stamped Concrete installs in half the time of traditional Masonry.

Stamped Concrete comes in custom colors, patterns, and sizes.

Stamped Concrete has no joints to maintain, unlike pavers or stone.

Stamped Concrete is unique - No two jobs are the same.

Stamped Concrete is one piece of material.

Stamped Concrete Patios are catching on fast.  Decorative concrete has overtaken traditional masonry as the preferred method of achieving a beautiful and durable outdoor space that is both economical and durable.

Every decorative concrete patio needs a few things:

Removal of the old patio, to ensure even hydration;

A properly compacted sub-grade;

A strong concrete mix of 3000 PSI or greater;

A minimum concrete thickness of 3 1/2"-4";

Properly installed control and expansion joints;

Integral concrete coloring or color hardener;

Colored release to accent the base colors;

A high quality concrete sealer to protect the colors from the elements;

And a Concrete Contractor who knows how to pour concrete.

Under most circumstances, it is best to replace the entire stamped concrete concrete patio.  Stamped concrete is a durable material when cured, but stamped concrete patio mixes are very delicate when wet.  For example, a new stamped concrete patio that is poured on top of old cement may force too much water to the surface, weakening the cement and potentially causing problems down the road.  It is always best to remove the old concrete, or break it up into pieces, in order to allow bleed water to escape through the bottom of the new cement patio.

Stamped Concrete Patios can be installed with many patterns and colors.

The stamped concrete patio to the left was installed after the old patio was removed by hand.  We used an ashlar slate pattern with some earth-tone coloring, and a high grade sealer to protect the colors.
