Concrete Driveways are common in Atlanta. Concrete is a durable material, but when concrete driveways are installed incorrectly, as most are, then you are bound to have issues with concrete cracking, dusting, spalding, heaving, etc. As the premier concrete contractor in Atlanta, BOSS Construction LLC is able to fix whatever driveway repair issue you have. |
Common Concrete Driveway Issues:Cracking concrete due to tree root stress; Cracked concrete due to erosion or settlement; Sinking concrete caused by underground trash pit; Concrete driveway cracked under excessive loads; Low or weak PSI strength of concrete mix; Excessive water added to concrete mix during installation; Insufficient concrete thickness; Insufficient control joints or expansion joints in concrete; Insufficient reinforcement added to concrete driveway mix. |
| But don't worry, because even cracked concrete driveways can be fixed. So how is concrete 'fixed'? Most situations require that we remove and replace the affected concrete area. Sometimes it is preferable to fix just the concrete sections that require replacement. How big of an area should be replaced? It depends on your situation. Let us take a look. It is important to note that most concrete cracking cannot be fixed properly by resurfacing. |
Be wary of concrete resurfacing. Concrete resurfacing is a process that installs a thin layer of cementious or polymer material on top of your existing concrete. There is a debate in the concrete industry over the durability of resurfacing on exterior surfaces. If your concrete is cracked before the new surface is applied, then those cracks will eventually re-appear in the new surface (regardless of what some may say). Why take a chance? Removal and replacement of the concrete area is surely a better option and may be comparable to the costs of resurfacing. The resurfacing process does indeed have a role in concrete decoration inside of structures where environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, and traffic can be controlled. |

PROPERLY INSTALLING CONCRETE DRIVEWAYS IN GEORGIA |
Every concrete driveway needs a few things:A properly compacted subgrade; A strong concrete mix of 3000 PSI or greater; A minimum concrete thickness of 3 1/2"-4"; Properly installed control and expansion joints; And a Concrete Contractor who knows how to pour concrete. Does every concrete driveway need reinforcement? No. Our temperate climate and clay soils can provide enough stability for concrete driveways and any outdoor concrete work. That doesn't mean that you never need reinforcement. It depends on your situation. Be careful with any concrete contractor that tells you that you have to have reinforcement in every situation. He may just be spending your money. |
The concrete driveway in this photo has picture frame control joints. This is a common driveway design feature that shouldn't cost any extra in today's market. A good concrete contractor knows where in the driveway to place these joints for maximum effect and beauty. Visit our stamped concrete page or our photo gallery for more concrete driveway designs. Under some circumstances, it may be best to replace the entire concrete driveway. Whole driveway replacement may be the best option if you are experiencing widespread cracking due to improper concrete thickness, low initial concrete strength, or when too much water was added during driveway installation. It wouldn't hurt to ask us for an estimate; its free! |
| BOSS Construction LLC has replaced thousands of concrete driveways in the metro Atlanta area. Most of our work involves driveway repairs - meaning we have decades of experience fixing problems created by other less experienced and lower quality concrete contractors. We have seen every problem that could possible arise from badly installed driveways and we know how to do the job right, the first time. |
