Concrete slabs are everywhere in Georgia.
When once homes were built on crawlspaces, the concrete slab has become the choice of builders today. Concrete slabs are cheaper to build than crawlspaces. Concrete slabs are also ideal for commercial applications. The photo to the left is a commercial concrete slab used as a loading dock for switching material between tractor trailers. Concrete slabs used for this purpose need to withstand the pounding of trailers and the weight of heavy forklift traffic. This slab is 6" to 8" thick, with a rebar mat and wire mesh in the slab, all poured on top of a gravel base. The metal plating you see is embedded in the concrete for welding on addtional ramp equipment in the future. |
Our concrete slabs have been used as:
Commercial aircraft Hangars Bank buildings Industrial storage Commercial Retail space Residential Construction Heavy duty Parking areas Generator Pads

The concrete slab in the photo to the left is for a garage. All concrete slabs, if they are to be enclosed or hold the weight of a structure, must be permitted, inspected, and approved by the governing county or city. Most municipalities require that you have concrete footings in the concrete slab that will help to support the weight of the structure. Many concrete slabs also need to have gravel under the main area of the concrete slab, as well as a vapor barrier, wire mesh, and 4" of concrete. |
Of course, BOSS Construction LLC also installs standard block foundations as well. This block foundation is a crawlspace for a new home. Note the rebar mat and vapor barrier that is installed in the garage area in preparation for a concrete garage slab. The rebar was needed here because the area inside the block was built up with fill and therefore the concrete slab would require additional reinforcement in case there would be any future movement in the subgrade. Block foundations require more time because first, the concrete footing must be dug, inspected, and poured. Then the block must be laid, and finally, the slab for a garage is poured. In a normal residential concrete slab, the footings are poured monolithic with the slab, meaingn that that the footings are poured at the same time that the concrete slab is poured.

BOSS Construction LLC has replaced thousands of concrete driveways in the metro Atlanta area. Most of our work involves concrete repairs - meaning we have decades of experience fixing problems created by other less experienced and lower quality concrete contractors. We have seen every problem that could possible arise from badly installed concrete slabs and we know how to do the job right, the first time.
