The building trades of stone, brick, and block masonry have been around for thousands of years. While wood framing will rot and steel girders will rust with time, masonry can withstand the elements for centuries. Masonry Contractors have been around for centuries as well, but the trade itself changes frequently. A good masonry contractor knows both traditional masonry techniques, and understands the new masonry techniques of artificial stone and modular block. BOSS Construction LLC is a premier masonry contractor in Atlanta, and we have the knowledge to build and install any masonry project. |

Brick Masonry

|
Masonry WorkMuch of today's masonry work is done by masons with no formal training or education. The problem arises on issues like the brick chimney in the photo above, where the mason lays the brick directly to the sheathing of the roof with no angle iron to transfer the weight of the brick chimney properly, and no additional framing to help support. Shoddy masonry work can be a big problem down the road. There is a difference between your run of the mill masonry work, and a brick masonry contractor with the experience to construct expensive jobs correctly the first time, every time. BOSS Construction LLC does masonry work the right way. |

Stone MasonryStone Masonry is another trade that has been around for centuries. Stone falls into two general categories: Real (also called natural) stone, and fake stone (also called artificial stone, faux stone). The photo to the right is real medium stack fieldstone. This stone style is labor intensive, because every stone must be chiseled. Natural Stone MasonryNatural stone has benefits and drawbacks. Natural stone is more expensive than artificial stone, but it also lasts longer and is more durable. Natural stone takes longer to install, but many say that it is worth the wait. |
Artificial Stone MasonryArtificial stone is slightly cheaper overall, after stone labor and material are figured. As you can see in the photo to the left, faux stone looks similar to real stone, both in color and stone texture. Artificial stone needs no footing of its own, and can adhere directly to the surface it is applied to, be that block, cement, stucco, or any other properly prepared material. The cap to this retaining wall is done with natural stone, because natural stone has more durability to be able to withstand the elements. Artificial stone is the stone material of choice for builders and remodelers today. Looking for someone to install your artificial stone? Call us at 770-599-3800 today! |

Granite Stone MasonryGranite is a material that is local to the Atlanta metro area. Most traditional exterior masonry in Atlanta was made with granite until the 1960s. Many crawlspace foundation walls, retaining walls, and other structural walls were traditionally made with granite. Today, many people look to retain the older look that granite stone masonry provides. A unique feature of granite is the method we use for installation. Granite does not use a block structure, and granite stone is not usually laid as a veneer. Rather, the granite pieces used in the wall to the left are whole pieces, some 6" thick, and are mortared together to create a solid and very strong granite retaining wall. |
